Hello and welcome back to Gimmemymascara!
I know I’ve been absent for quite a while but I woke up this morning to a notification from WordPress letting me know how well my blog has been doing, even in my absence, and how my views were sky rocketing! WOAH! That’s definitely one way to help me out of bed on a #HumpDay! I went through my stats to notice planner related posts are what y’all are loving most right now, and today being the Erin Condren Life Planner release day, I thought a planner post was fitting!
I got word of the EC release last week, and while bloggers like Elle Fowler were raving about the new planners, I thought of how much I would really use a vertical planner and how it would fit into my day to day life. I also remembered I had bought the MAMBI 365 Happy Planner at Michaels a few months back while it was on sale and I thought I would use it this week as a test run for the EC. Here’s how the week’s going so far:
A) FULL BOX STICKERS!!! I recently got a few of the full box stickers from ItsJustPaperCo during one of her ToonieTuesday sales and i’ve been itching to use them! This week I used the Welcome to Paradise collection and having a full row of full box stickers in the center of my planner has been so fun and colourful! I’ve always thought full boxes took up too much room but it’s summer, and I really don’t have all that much going on this week, so it worked out perfectly! So far so good.
**I didn’t think I was doing a post on this spread so I didn’t bother taking any pictures of it before the pen! I’m sorry I can’t show you the whole thing, for privacy reasons, but here’s what I do have..**
I think it’s safe to say that beauty bloggers and YouTubers take changing seasons VERY seriously. The second the month, or seasons change, my subscription box overflows with “monthly favorites,” “seasonal favorites” and “seasonal essentials.” It’s normal for our skin, makeup routine and hair care routine to change according to our environment. This post is all about my winter beauty essentials and getting the perfect winter, holiday ready look.
Holiday Ready: Smokey Eyes
The second someone mentions winter and makeup my brain immediately jumps to red lips and smokey eyes. Glittery golds with a warm tone and high sheen are most popular this time of year. My favorite gold would have to be Half Baked from Urban Decay, it’s a warm toned shadow with a golden undertone. PS- this shadow can be bought separately or in most Urban Decay palettes.
If you’re wondering what an undertone is, let me explain. An undertone is the colour or tone that shows through the initial eyeshadow colour you apply. Most gold eyeshadows have a yellow undertone, and show up as more of a yellow-gold versus a gold-gold. However, this Urban Decay shadow is actually a gold-gold, AKA the best there is. It won’t show any specs of yellow, brown, or red through it. The brown can make your eyes look muddy and the red or yellow tones can make you look tired, and sometimes sick. A gold undertone helps you look more awake and gives your eyes a more bright eyed look.
Somedays I prefer a warmer brown-gold shadow to add some sparkle to my eye without it being too intense. Both of these colours together blend better onto the eyes and won’t stand out in an awkward, overly bright way. To avoid the muddy eyed look I mentioned earlier, I use the Morphe Shadow in ES20. This shadow is very warm toned, which works best on darker, olive, or tan skin like mine. For lighter skin tones, blend this shadow over the lid AND into the crease for the perfect amount of definition. PS- Morphe shadows are only $2, you just can’t go wrong. Continue reading
Today, I’m sharing with you my most requested beauty topic: my hair care routine. I always get asked what hair products I use to keep my hair looking healthy and shiny year round. I do have some split ends but I also hydrate my hair, a lot, so they don’t show as much as they otherwise would.
Rub a Dub Dub:
My hair care routine usually starts with washing and conditioning my hair in the shower. I shower often but only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, unless I really worked out that week, or have somewhere nice to be where I need nicer hair. On days I’m not showering but want to refresh my hair I use the Bumble and Bumble Pret a Powder, this is a very fine milled, white powdered dry shampoo which soaks up the excess oil from your hair, adds volume and texture making it look and feel cleaner. My name is Anisa and I am a makeup addict.
Group: Hi Anisa
Councillor: Let’s hear your story, what brings you here?
Well, I knew I was an addict when I was sitting in the library at school writing a blog post about DIY face moisturizers and masks when I decided I needed a pen to jot something into my agenda. I unzipped the smaller pouch of my backpack and saw my Kardashian Khroma lipgloss in wildflower honey, which I totally forget I even had. I pushed it aside and there was my $31 Dior Addict lipgloss under it, and another under that. I decided it would be easier to take all the lip products out of my bag to find my pen and then, well, then this happened.
If you’re on YouTube as much as I am, you’ve probably heard about primers and seen countless Get Ready With Me videos that start off by priming the skin. For years now I never used a primer, not even on my oily, pore filled face. I didn’t use a primer because I didn’t know what the heck it was or which one I should bother trying. I’ve since learned almost everything there is to know about primers and I am here to teach you everything you need to know about priming your skin! Continue reading
