ELF Studio Contour and Blush Palettes Review(s)! |Gimmemymascara

Lades and Gentlemen,

I have found the newest, hottest, most pigmented, most versatile, drugstore palette. Not an eyeshadow palette, a set of DRUGSTORE face palettes! WHAT?! Yup.

ELF Cosmetics recently came out with FOUR brand new Studio Palettes, featuring four shades each. They have two blush palettes, a lighter option and a darker one. They also have a contour palette and a bronzer option! I purchased 3 of the 4 and here’s what I thought…

IMG_1797Each of the powders is pretty finely milled and easy to blend, the powders stay on just as well as any high end ones i’ve personally tried and the shades are super versatile for any skin tone. I love that each palette comes with four shades so you can mix and match each one to fit your needs. Overall, I love each of the 3 palettes I purchased and here’s why..

First off, a drugstore contour palette? Golden. Most of the well known contour kits from brands like Anastasia or Kat Von D ring in around $50 and this one is $6! It comes with 4 shades- a brighter whiter highlight shade, a more yellow toned corrector/brightening powder, a warmer bronzer colour, and a cool toned contour. This palette has all 4 shades you’ll need for a full faced contour and highlight! I give this palette a 9 out of 10, the brighter white shade is a bit too bright for my skin tone but it’s nice to have around. IMG_1779

The second palette I was most excited to try was the dark toned blush palette! If you know anything about me you’ll know how much I love fall and fall fashion and fall makeup trends. I think the darker tones and colours just work so much better with my skin tone and type and I love playing around with all the warmer berry tones. This set comes with 4 shades as well. The first is a peachy pink shade which is a touch bit darker than other peaches I’ve tried, and I love it. Then there is a brighter pink, which is perfect to add a pop of colour in the winter. It’s basically a nicer version of what cold air does to your cheeks by Christmas.. Third is a shimmery berry, almost mauve colour which I must admit is my least favourite simply because of the shimmer. I think a shimmery blush just looks a bit childish and I prefer to add my shimmer in later with a highlighter exactly where I’d like it. Fourth, a mauve, almost red, berry shade.. It’s hard to describe but it is so perfect for fall, or darker skin tones to wear throughout the year! I can already tell this is going to be one of my go to blushes for an everyday fall/winter makeup look. Overall, I give this palette an 8 out of 10!  IMG_1788

The third one I purchased was the lighter option of the blush palette. I’m usually alarmed by the word light when it comes to makeup since I do have a darker skin tone but the shades didn’t look too light or un wearable and I wanted to be able to give you all a full review of this line! Since testing out this palette I’ve basically fallen in love! *Details on the wedding are coming soon, you’re all invited!* And, in true Gimmemymascara fashion, the shade I love the most is the strangest looking one.. That darker peachy/orange in the corner? That’s the groom. It’s one of those shades you really need to try to fall in love with, it really doesn’t show up as orange or muddy, it’s actually super flattering and it’s a great neutral blush to have on hand when doing a look that’s a bit more eye makeup heavy. It really helps to balance out the face and I love pairing it with a peachy nude lip to pull the whole look together. Other colours include a cool toned super light pink, another pink that’s a shade darker and warmer than the first, and a colour that looks the same as the one next to but a half shade over and has some shimmer in it. *This is why pictures exist…* I would give this one a 6 out of 10, only because I love the peachy one and don’t use the others too often…  but this is still a great way to build your blush collection! IMG_1786

Basically, in love, and for $6, you can’t go wrong!
